A  Beginner's Tutorial for Creating 
Web Pages with Microsoft FrontPage 2000

Strategies
A self-paced, online tutorial involving presentation, 
demonstration, organization, practice, elaboration and 
review using Microsoft PowerPoint and FrontPage 2000.

Enter and Format Text

Analyze and define major components of the standard and formatting toolbars Presentation, demonstration, organization, elaboration, practice Students will view a PowerPoint overview of tables before beginning the online step-by-step tutorial.  While reviewing an online tutorial on the topic, students are encouraged to take notes on the standard and format toolbars. The student will then review the major components of the standard and format toolbars through an end-of-lesson exercise
Revise the title of a Web page Demonstration, organization, elaboration, practice While reviewing an online tutorial on the topic, students are encouraged to take notes on revising the title of a Web page. The student will then practice by revising the title on their practice Web page.
Write an introduction paragraph and locate and use the Spell Checker. Demonstration, organization, elaboration, practice Students will view a PowerPoint presentation on tips for writing on the Web.  While reviewing an online tutorial on the topic, students are encouraged to take notes on adding text to a Web page and locating and using the Spell Checker. The student will then practice by adding an introduction paragraph and check their spelling on their practice Web page.
Review entering and formatting text. Review Students will review the concepts through an end-of-lesson exercise before continuing to the next skill.
Create a Table
Describe uses of tables. Presentation, demonstration, organization, elaboration, practice Students will view a PowerPoint overview of tables before beginning the online step-by-step tutorial.  While reviewing an online tutorial on the topic, students are encouraged to take notes on the three uses of tables. The student will then review the uses of tables by completing the end-of-lesson exercise
Locate the table icon and table drop-down submenu box on the standard toolbar. Demonstration, organization, elaboration, practice While reviewing an online tutorial on the topic, students are encouraged to take notes on locating the icon and submenu box. The student will then practice locating the table icon and table drop-down submenu on their practice Web page.
Create a table using the table icon and table drop-down submenu box on the standard toolbar. Demonstration, organization, elaboration, practice While reviewing an online tutorial on the topic, students are encouraged to take notes on how to use the table icon and drop-down submenu box to create a table. The student will then practice creating a table with three columns and three rows using the table icon and table drop-down submenu on their practice Web page.

Demonstration, organization, elaboration, practice While reviewing an on-line tutorial on the topic, students are encouraged to take notes on how to use the table icon and drop-down submenu box to create a table. The student will then practice creating a table with three columns and four rows using the table icon and table drop-down submenu in the Web site they are building.

The student will then practice using the various settings on the Table Properties dialog box by changing the alignment, width, and borders of a table on their practice Web page.

Locate and analyze settings on the Cell Properties dialog box. Demonstration, organization, elaboration, practice

While reviewing an on-line tutorial on the topic, students are encouraged to take notes on locating and analyzing settings on the Cell Properties dialog box.  The student will then practice using the various settings on the Cell Properties dialog box by changing the width, height, cell border colors and cell background colors in several cells in a table on their practice Web page.

Insert additional rows and columns into an existing table. Demonstration, organization, elaboration, practice While reviewing an on-line tutorial on the topic, students are encouraged to take notes on how to insert additional rows and columns into an existing table. The student will then practice inserting one column to the right of the left-most column and one row under their top row in a table on their practice Web page.
Merge and delete cells in an existing table. Demonstration, organization, elaboration, practice, While reviewing an on-line tutorial on the topic, students are encouraged to take notes on how to merge and delete cells in an existing table. The student will then practice merging and splitting the cells in the top row of their practice Web page. In addition, they will practice deleting the cells in the left-most column of their practice Web page.
Review tables concepts, design and construction Review Students will review the concepts through an end-of-lesson exercise before continuing to the next skill.
Graphic Files
Define the various graphic or image extension files appropriate for the Web. Presentation, organizational, review Students will view a PowerPoint overview on  concepts of  graphic images and extension files  before beginning an on-line step-by-step tutorial. While reviewing an on-line tutorial on the topic, students are encouraged to take notes on the definition and best examples of GIF and JPEG images. The student will then list the characteristics of GIF and JPEG images.
Organize and manage graphics using the folder list. Demonstration, organization, elaboration, practice While reviewing an on-line tutorial on the topic, students are encouraged to take notes on how to organize and manage graphics using the folder list. In their practice Web site, the student will then create a folder in the folder list for each of the three types of images and move an existing or supplied image to the correct folder.
Locate and insert a graphic or image from FrontPage Clipart. Demonstration, organization, elaboration, practice While reviewing an on-line tutorial on the topic, students are encouraged to take notes on locating and inserting a graphic or image from FrontPage Clipart. The student will then insert a graphic or image from the FrontPage Clipart collection into their practice Web page.
Locate, save (create a file) and insert a graphic or image as a file. Demonstration, organization, elaboration, practice While reviewing an on-line tutorial on the topic, students are encouraged to take notes on locating, saving, and inserting a graphic or image as a file into a Web page. The student will then locate an image or graphic on the Internet and save it as a new file in the correct image-type folder in the folder list. Then the student will insert the saved image file into a page on their practice Web site.
Review graphic images and extension files Review Students will review the concepts through an end-of-lesson exercise before continuing to the next skill.
