Course Overview: Nanotechnology is an accelerating field of discovery and invention that is expanding the possibilities of materials capabilities. When used as modifiers or co-reactants in polymers, nano-additives at low levels have provided impressive enhancement of various properties. These enhanced materials are creating new applications and markets that progressive companies can service. This course is intended to provide an overview of the basic technology, to survey the materials of specific interest to the polymer industry, discuss the markets and pose the ethical concerns surrounding its implementation.
