Marshall Griffith (b. 1953) has received awards from the Ohio Arts Council, ASCAP, and the Music Teachers National Association (1976). His works are published by Theodore Presser and Belle Press and recorded on Crystal Records. He has had performances by the Baton Rouge Symphony, the 20th Century Consort, Amici String Quartet, the Bel Arti String Quartet, the Coleridge Quartet, ABē (violin/viola duo), Flutissimo (flute quartet), The Black Earth Percussion Group, Akron University New Music Ensemble, The Cleveland Institute of Music Symphony Orchestra and Contemporary Music Ensemble, the Case Western Reserve Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the Indiana University Wind Ensemble. He received a Doctor of Music degree from Indiana University in 1986 and is currently on the faculty of the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he has served as Dean of Student Affairs sine 1995. His principal teachers were John Eaton and Donald Erb. He served as President of the Composers Guild between 1991 and 1995.
