Walter Watson Walter Watson, a resident of Canton, Ohio, was born in 1933. He is a composer, teacher and pianist. he has studied with Karl Ahrendt, Samuel Adler, and Darius Milhaud (Aspen School of Music). He holds a BFA and MFA from Ohio University and a Ph.D from North Texas State University. Watson taught at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX for five years, and at Kent State University starting in 1966. He was an organist/choirmaster for a total of twelve years at Christ Church in Nacogdoches, TX, Christ Church in Kent, OH, and at Pilgrim Church in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. He is a member of ASCAP, Cleveland Composers Guild, MENC, American Music Center, and Phi Kappa Lambda. Walter has earned three consecutive awards from ASCAP, three summer fellowships from Kent State University, and commissions from Springfield (Miss.)
