The Maurice Morton Institute of Polymer Science conducts basic and applied research, focusing on the creation of new polymers and the study of their physical properties. The Institute has evolved from the original Institute of Rubber Research, which was established by the University on 1956. It is named after the late Dr. Maurice Morton, its founder, and one of the world's pioneers in polymer research and education and a UA faculty member for more than twenty years.
