Project SEED (Summer Experiences for the Economically Disadvantaged) provides talented, motivated high school students to work on cutting-edge chemical research with research mentors in academia and industry. The 2009 research program sponsored by the Akron Section of the American Chemical society will begin with a meeting on Friday, June 11, 2010 on UA's campus and run through Friday, August 13, 2010 with a poster session on UA's campus. During the program, students work ~40 hours per week in the research laboratories with their mentor(s) or researching their project in the library. First-year (Summer I) students earn a stipend of $2800. Second-year students (Summer II) earn a $3300 stipend. Details about Project SEED are in the documents below and on the National ACS Project SEED web site. Note that in order to be eligible, students must be economically disadvantaged. Students and parent(s)/guardian must provide verification of income before a student can be admitted to the program.
