Web-site Assignment

The capstone assignment in IR 311 is the creation of a personal website to showcase completed course assignments. The web authoring skills developed through this assignment will transfer to the creation of websites in support of future teaching.

Part 1. Portfolio Contribution

Revisions or enhancements to products developed during the course and conversion of those documents to a format suitable for presentation on a web server. Products meeting assessment criteria prior to being included in website are:

• Teaching Resources/Materials Bibliography with 10 or more annotated links. (HTML format with active hyperlinks).
• Poster page with digital image of poster created in the course and rationale for design. (HTML format)
• A copy of the Praxis lesson plan prepared for (5500:310) instructional design course. (HTML format)
• Statement of Teaching philosophy (HTML format)
• A working sample Power Point lesson (PPT or HTML format)

Part 2. Criteria for Web Site

The website authoring skills demonstrated include:

• Website must be posted and accessible on the student’s account on the GoZips server.
• The index or home page must contain accurate contact information including a hyperlinked e-mail address.
• Clear and accurate navigation within and between web pages
• All hyperlinks (internal and external) work as intended
• Aesthetics (application of visual design skills)

o Background color or image pleasing to the eye

o Readability of text (appropriate font/size and color contrast)

o Appropriate use of null or “white” space (screen not too crowded)

o Reasonable amount of scrolling

o Appropriate use of animated images and other images
