The ALAO 2008 Annual Conference was held on October 24 at the Roberts Centre in Wilmington, Ohio. Keynote speaker, Dr. David Carr, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Library and Information Science led off a successful day of programming. While attendance was down somewhat from 2007, the conference was well attended and a record number of vendors participated. Evaluations of the conference were generally positive; most attendees liked the facilities. The conference finished in the black; budget numbers are not final, but I expect the conference will show a profit of approximately $3000 to $4000.

Moving forward from the Annual Conference, I plan to focus on member services during the remainder of this year. The membership database, communications with members, and member benefits are all issues that I would like to bring to closure this year.
