2009-2010 ALAO Elections

The annual ALAO elections for new board members and officers is proceeding apace
but we are still short of candidates to run for offices and the board. Currently we need
1-2 more candidates for the Board member-at-large positions, one more person for
the treasurer position and two candidates for the next ALAO Vice President/President-
Elect position. I have been working with the chair of the ALAO Diversity committee
to locate and contact new and potential members to run for the open ALAO positions.

On the positive side, of the six candidates that have already thrown their collective
hats into the ring, almost all of them would be new to the ALAO board and it’s
workings and the candidates also include support staff candidates as well. As far as the
timeline for this years elections go, I will extend the nomination period to early March in my last call for nominations email message here soon. I will forward this information
on to Frank by mid-March and hold the elections by late-March. Once again utilizing
the electronic sign-in and voting format we have used for the past couple years.
However I hope to hold the elections open for a two week period instead of just the one week period previously used in the past.

So if you know of anyone willing to run or who might be interested and need more information to make their decisions. Have them contact me about running for an ALAO position via email at sagemor@bright.net or by phone at (330) 234-1009.

Respectfully submitted,

Douglas Morrison
