Annual Report

The 2009 ALAO Annual Conference, “Re-charging, Re-defining, and “Re-aligning our Libraries” will take place on October 30, 2009 in Wilmington, Ohio, with Dr. Rush Miller, Dean of the Libraries at the University of Pittsburgh as keynote speaker. We are beginning to contact presenters whose programs have been accepted and look forward to a lively conference. The 2009 Conference Planning Committee hopes to pilot webcasting of some programs with a goal of evaluating the feasibility of eventually being able to charge for a virtual conference. We have also been exploring technological alternatives that minimize the need for face-to-face meetings in this difficult economic climate.

The ALAO Board Annual Retreat will take place June 22-23rd at the Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark, Ohio.

The coming year will be a busy one, as we overhaul information content on the ALAO web site, deal with the implications of changes involving the Ohio College Association, and continue to work towards implementation of a web-based Membership Database.
