Interest Group Coordinator

Annual Report
6/22/2009
This past year I’ve been busy advising and assisting the ALAO Interest Group Chairs with preparing for their spring workshops and leadership succession. This spring I was invited to speak at both the Support Staff Interest Group and Technical, Electronic & Digital Services Interest Group’s spring meeting workshops.
Last summer I prepared an IG Chair Guide for my session with the IG Chairs at the Leadership Retreat. Alison Ricker recently added the guide to the Procedures Manual. In the fall I worked with Jo Anne Calzonetti and Alison Ricker to define the until-then undefined Interest Group Coordinator position. Once agreement was met and Executive Board approval secured, I prepared a position description for inclusion in the Procedures Manual. I submitted a proposal for a Student Presenter Grant, which was approved last winter by the board. Subsequent to approval, I worked with Karen Wilhoit and Christine Rigda to hammer out details of both the Student Presenter Grant and the Support Staff Presenter Grant to ensure continuity with the grants. This summer I began work on a workshop-planning guide to assist IG Chairs with preparing their workshops. At the Leadership Retreat I’ll submit a procedural document for both grants for Board approval.
In my role as Interest Group Coordinator I served as Interest Group liaison on the 2008 and 2009 Conference Planning Committees. For the 2008 Conference I coordinated the awards program at the conference. This year I served on the Webcasting Task Force, worked to procure the conference keepsakes and will again coordinate the awards program at this fall’s conference.
Respectfully submitted,
Deberah England ALAO Interest Group Coordinator
