Quarterly Report
9/11/2009
DLIG will be sponsoring the session titled “Branching Out: 20 Ideas in 20 Minutes” at the Annual Conference on October 30, 2009. Presenters Carmen Byg and Tiffany Hampel from Franklin University will share twenty ideas for effectively communicating what our libraries have to offer to on-campus and distance faculty and students. Ideas include library programs, collaboration with other departments and the use of technology to accomplish this goal.
A couple of people expressed interest in DLIG and we will be contacting them soon. During the conference we will have a display table and will be recruiting more members. Christina and Kristen plan to meet after the board meeting to coordinate contacting committee members about conference activities and ideas for the spring workshop.
Another goal for this upcoming year is to work more closely with the Instruction Interest Group and explore the possibility of merging the two groups. The spring workshop sponsored by both groups had 45 attendees and received enthusiastic feedback. The two Interest Groups have a lot of overlap in subject matter and it may be a better use of resources to merge the two groups.
The DLIG wishes to convey its gratitude to Pat Antonelli for her hard work and enthusiasm as co-chair these past couple of years and to welcome Christina Bonner as the incoming co-chair.
Respectfully submitted,
Kristen Kirchgesler Co-Chair, Distance Learning Interest Group
