Quarterly Report

I have worked with Gaynelle Predmore and JoAnn Calzonetti on identifying a new fiscal agent for ALAO. We have decided to enter into an agreement with SWON Libraries. SWON will provide many of the same services to ALAO as OCA did, and will charge the association only slightly higher fees. SWON will handle ALAO funds, serve as our permanent address and telephone number, and provide accounting reports. SWON representatives will not attend our meetings on a regular basis, but can attend if and when their presence is necessary. SWON is also unable to provide insurance, but I am investigating options for obtaining director’s and officer’s coverage independently.

I am also working on finding a conference site for 2010 with Stephena Harmony and Kathryn Venditti. We hope to have a site identified by the end of September or early October in order for the information to be included in the 2009 Conference packet. We are looking primarily at the Columbus area since we have been in the Southwest for the past two years. The dates we are looking at are October 29, November 5, and November 12.

I am ready to begin focusin on nominations for the Jay Ladd Award. The announcement has been posted on the website since late August. I will follow up with e-mail next week, and Lindsay will post an announcement on the blog/facebook.

After I wrap up the items above, I plan to start working on the nominations process for next year.
